Important:

For all cruise ship pickups you need to be able to receive and to respond to text or WhatsApp messages in the U.S. as waiting in vehicles just outside the ship is prohibited. Your driver-guide will be staged just minutes away from your ship and contact you 15 minutes prior to scheduled pickup time with pickup instructions just outside the disembarkation center once you are ready for pickup. Your ships WiFi will be disabled once you start disembarkation
For most travelers, "Self-Assist" or "Self-Disembarkation" option is the fastest way, allowing you to leave the ship with the very first groups bypassing the slow luggage collection process. Be prepared to handle all your bags through the terminal. Always reconfirm with your cruise director regarding the fastest option avoiding crowds

Know where you disembark:

You will most likely disembark at the World Cruise Center in San Pedro (Port of Los Angeles) if you cruise with Celebrity, Cunard, Princess, Norwegian (NCL), Viking, Oceania,  Regent and Royal Caribbean

You will disembark at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal if you cruise with Carnival. Occasionally, other ships from Carnival Corporation (like Princess or Holland America) might dock in Long Beach for repositioning or special calls.
